Snow, and mittens, and windows, oh my!

Ok, I promised a winter story, and some knitting pictures. We'll start with the winter. I mean, weather. Here are some beautiful pictures from Thanksgiving. No snow. Lovely weather. See my artsy shots? I saw the driftwood and feather just like that and snapped a picture, then I was on the beach and saw these really pretty rocks. I bet the feather and driftwood are still there, they are probably completely covered with snow, though. Yuck!

When we left the house at about 4, Friday morning, the weather was nice. Clear roads all the way to the hospital for SP's surgery. When we got out of the hospital to come home at about 11 am, it was a blizzard. You couldn't see because of the snow falling and blowing around. The roads were completely covered! Slow drive home, let me tell ya. That would have been bad enough, right?

Well, I put my window down to flick the ice off the wiper, and when I pushed the button to put the window back up, nothing happened. It would still go down, so down it went. We had to drive an hour in a blizzard with the passenger window all of the way down. I held my coat up to it all of the way home.

Here are some pictures of the mitten I finished while SP was in surgery. Look at that snow. It's really deep. Feet deep! Not inches! I need to move South!!

Here's a close up of my mitten. I love this yarn. It's my handdyed fisherman's wool. Warm!! It will go with the Panta that I knit for myself.

Oh, yeah, after we got home, Hubby called Cindy's hubby, and he gave him an idea on how to fix the window. Hold the button down, and slam the door. It worked. Weird!

I have eight soaps calling for felt. I hope they dry out really well before I have to gift them!

I just have to say, one more time, how much we appreciate the well wishes for SP. I love the community and friendship I've found in knitbloggers. All y'all are GREAT! **hugs to you all**

I love your mitten! I'm glad the surgery went so well, and that you had something to do. See? Sit time, and something to show for it! Speaking for myself, of course, but I bet everyone else too, you're pretty great yourself. See you Monday!

Yikes! Sorry about you having to drive (literally) through the blizzard, must've been great to get inside in the warm.

Mitt looks great!

WOW! The only time we see snow like that is at the ski slopes!

Bummer about your window! The slamming of the door though is only a temporary fix. It has stopped working on my van half the time. And it's still not fixed. Hmmmmm.
Love the mitten, it will go perfectly with your headband.

Bad enough to drive home in a blizzard, but with the window down? You must have been soooo glad to get home!

Glad the surgery went well. The snow was supposed to hit us, but ended up being nothing but rain. I hate it when car windows do that, I would have been a popsicle.

I think you would miss the snow if you moved down South. We do have more sunny days in the winter though and that's very nice.
